I've gotten a few emails about this recently, so I thought I would take the opportunity to clear this up. PithHelmet doesn't run on Intel Macs - natively. An alert reader recently told me that you can get PithHelmet to load by forcing Safari to open under Rosetta. This is contrary to what I originally believed, and indicates that Rosetta must be pretty awesome.

Apparently all you have to do is "Get Info" on the Safari application and click the "Open using Rosetta" checkbox under the "General" section. Safari is then emulated, but the speed is fine for most people.

Keep in mind, I have not verified this at all, this is just what somebody told me. I am inclined to believe him.

Now, in terms of a Universal Binary, it is not impossible, I just don't have the hardware to test on. Strangely, I don't even know anyone who has one, or has even ordered one.

Two people have written in volunteering to help test PithHelmet for me. While that sounds good, and I certainly appreciate the offer, it's really not practical. I won't go overboard on the gorey details of software development, suffice it to say, there is no good way to develop things without the hardware, and I'm not going to release something unless I can be fairly certain that it works.

I hope you all continue to enjoy PithHelmet and I promise that there will be a universal binary once I have an opportunity to work on it properly.
